In the First Aid lesson we covered various things such as resuscitation, how to put on bandages and slings and the recovery position. We all improved our aim in archery and competed in various competitions like hitting a balloon on a target which was 15m away. During the navigation exercise, we had to use a map and compass to make our way over the Hampshire countryside and return safely to our camp. The leadership tasks involved becoming more confident on delivering a brief to a group, and it also involved leading that group in order to complete the task in hand.

The overall quality of the camp was very good, including the food in the mess which was some of the best mess food I have ever had. The accomodation was very tidy and well kept although being woken up at 6 in the morning for Physical Training at 6:15 wasn’t the most enjoyable part of the trip! On the first evening, we had a 295′s got (no) talent show, which included various types of acts like singing, dancing and telling jokes although some were better than others…

On the final evening we had a party with several traditional party games such as musical chairs, wheelbarrow races and 3 legged races. We all had to wear compulsory party hats and there were paper plate awards handed out which made some very chuffed cadets! It was a great laugh and it made a brilliant end to the camp.

Also, after Flight Lieutenant Moakes’ decision to stand down from command of the Squadron, we also took part in a formal handover parade where command passed to Flying Officer Sean Purcell.

Cadets from 295, 158, 494, 999, 1312 and 276 Sqn’s attended and the week included activities such as fieldcraft, obstacle course, low ropes, first aid, short and long range shooting and leadership training.
